MP3 is a nice audio format if you have the bandwidth. Start here or there on the MP3 road.
The best MP3 player has to be WinAmp.
Search the internet CD database for Titles and Track information (your CD player can even show the titles of CD's playing when connected to the net using software availble here too).

I used TrueSpace from Caligari to make the Infinite Monkeys logo at the top of this page (10 years ago).
Today My son uses Maxon Cinema4D for totaly cool rendered animations.

I like Hardware toys too:

I bought the first palmtop computer: an IBM x86 Atari Portfolio in 1990. It was obsolete in a year or two.
I got the first US Robotics Palm Pilot in 1997 and upgraded it a few times
Palm III
Durring this time of PDA's portable MP3s were on the Diamond Rio 500
Handspring Platinum
Then I got the Handspring Treo 300 PDA/Phone when I finally broke down to having a cell phone.
After multiple years I got the Palm Treo 650 - which was (and still is) great for MP3s and video
Now I use the Palm Treo 755p, it has a nicer camera, faster internet, and more memory than the one above
